Expected value (EV)
The average amount a decision wins or loses if it were repeated many times.
Also: EV, expected value, +EV, -EV
Positive-EV (+EV) decisions make money in the long run, even if they lose on a particular hand. Poker is about making +EV decisions consistently and letting results follow over a large sample.
