Tools are only useful if they change how you think at the table. Here’s how to use ours as a study routine rather than a curiosity.

Odds calculator: build your intuition

Most players badly misjudge how often common hands win. Spend ten minutes testing match-ups in the odds calculator and guessing the answer before you press calculate:

• A pair against two higher cards (for example 7♠ 7♦ against A♥ K♣) — it’s close to a coin flip.
• A dominated hand (K♣ J♦ against A♠ K♦) — the dominated hand wins only about a quarter of the time.
• A flush draw against top pair on the flop — closer than most people think.

Write down the three results that surprised you most. Those are the gaps in your intuition.

Pot odds calculator: make it automatic

The goal is to never need it at the table. Open the pot odds calculator, set a pot and a bet, and say the required equity out loud before you look. After twenty repetitions, the common bet sizes — a third, a half, two-thirds, full pot — will stick.

Preflop charts: learn the shape, not every square

Don’t try to memorise every cell of every chart. Instead, open the preflop charts, switch between the under-the-gun and button presets, and notice how the range grows as you move around the table: more small pairs, more suited aces, more suited connectors, then more offsuit broadways.

Make it a routine

A simple weekly routine: one lesson, ten minutes with a tool, and a review of three hands you played. Small and consistent beats long and occasional. That’s how you level up.
